The pandemic emergency has represented an opportunity for growth for many companies. Especially for those companies that have demonstrated great strength and ability to innovate. Anna Rita Delzotto describes the experience of Procmatech
Stubbornness and a great capacity for resilience. In a constantly evolving production world, these are the keys to success, especially for a young company that is tiptoeing onto the market and finding itself facing a revolution. The reference is to the economic crisis resulting from the health emergency: "The current global pandemic situation has found us ready to intervene" assures Anna Rita Delzotto, production manager of Procmatech, a company based in Modugno, in the province of Bari, and specialized in the sector of advanced automation applied to industrial production processes. The company's mission is, in fact, to improve industrial production systems through the identification of innovative and customized mechatronics solutions. The specific needs of customers and their complete satisfaction guide the company's action and commitment. However, Procmatech's expertise, born in the automotive sector, has adapted to the changes that have occurred in the automation market in recent years and, in particular, in the past year, thanks to the expansion work, anticipated at unsuspected times, in the pharmaceutical, biomedical, packaging and food sectors.
When was the company born and how did it evolve, also driven by market changes?
"The company was officially founded in 2017 but started its business in 2018. It operates mainly in the automotive sector, but the market crisis caused by the pandemic and the consequent drop in orders in the sectors of origin did not find it unprepared. Procmatech reacted promptly, showing its reactivity to changes with production aimed at the medical, packaging and pharmaceutical sectors. The objective remains that of diversifying production as much as possible, a capacity inevitably required in a constantly changing market".
What strategies has the company implemented to overcome the economic crisis without too many repercussions?
"During 2020, we recorded exponential growth, just when companies linked to the automotive sector were slowing down and in some cases closing. In fact, we decided to propose ourselves immediately by starting the production lines of surgical masks, Ffp2 and Ffp3. We can say that the company's strength was to prove resilient, adapting to the changes underway. This also allowed us to achieve further growth and development of our skills. In fact, the company began to invest in the acquisition of new resources precisely because the demand has progressively increased. If before our activities were mainly directed at the automotive market and, therefore, to the search for collaborations with large multinationals, today we are investing in new technologies and innovations with the aim of repositioning ourselves on the market by tackling new sectors such as biomedical and pharmaceuticals".
What were the driving forces that led the company to change?
"We are from the South and I say this with great pride. We have the ability to not give up in the face of adversity and in any circumstance we show ourselves to be resilient. And the company has also shown itself capable of playing a leading role, despite the serious moment of crisis. In recent months in our area we have seen companies close and many people with only the sustenance of the redundancy fund. We have tried to row against the current and we have been able to do so, above all, because we are a fairly young company with a prepared management capable of carefully guiding the company's choices. It is officially our third year of activity and despite everything we have recorded constant growth".
What are the characteristics that distinguish you on the market compared to competitors?
"I think our strong point is the attention we pay to following the entire process of the order: from the beginning to the installation. We follow the customer in every single aspect by providing continuous assistance. We aim to earn their trust and to accompany them during the activities, especially when problems arise. This is probably the aspect on which we can say we are strongest: we like to earn the trust of customers by providing a quality product but also by aiming to establish a relationship of mutual trust with them."
How do you look to the future? The company has managed to overcome the critical issues, but where does it now aim to invest?
"Currently, investments are all aimed at artificial intelligence and Industry 4.0. The future is now represented by applications that contain the best technology. I, especially because I am responsible for coordinating the technical office, aim to grow my team in terms of expertise. I would like to invest in training collaborators in the use of artificial intelligence, I believe it could be a way to enter those sectors where electronics reigns supreme, for example, telemedicine."
